Importing Contacts
Bring contacts into Waveline by adding important people directly and by using mobile contact sync where supported. This keeps caller ID and conversations readable from day one.
Before you begin
- Prepare contact names, phone numbers, emails, and notes.
- Use E.164-style phone numbers where possible for better matching.
- Confirm you have permission to create contacts.
Where to find it
Use Phone -> Contacts -> Add Contact for manual entry. Mobile contact sync can also create or update device contacts for inbox phone numbers when contact permission is granted.
Step-by-step
- Open Phone -> Contacts.
- Choose Add Contact.
- Enter name, phone, optional email, and notes.
- Save the contact.
- Repeat for high-value customers before launch.
- On mobile, grant contacts permission if your account uses device contact sync.
What happens next
- The current web contact flow supports manual contact creation and editing.
- Mobile contact sync reads inbox phone numbers and writes desired Waveline contacts to the device when permission is granted.
- Contacts improve search, caller recognition, and quick follow-up actions.
Best practices
- Start with top customers and active prospects rather than importing stale lists.
- Avoid duplicate phone numbers across contacts.
- Keep notes short and operational.
Troubleshooting
- If a CSV import option is not visible in your account, use manual entry or ask your admin about available import options.
- If mobile sync does not create contacts, check device contact permission.
- If a number does not match, normalize the phone number.
