Admin and billing
Roles and Permissions
Roles decide what teammates can see and change. Permissions protect billing, team management, numbers, inboxes, devices, contacts, calls, messages, analytics, and admin settings.
Before you begin
- Know which teammates are admins, managers, everyday users, or read-only viewers.
- Create roles before inviting many team members.
- Use inbox membership for routing access and roles for management access.
Where to find it
Go to Team -> Roles to define roles, then assign them from the Team area.
Step-by-step
- Open Team -> Roles.
- Create or edit a role.
- Select the permissions that match the job.
- Save the role.
- Open the Team area.
- Assign the role when inviting or editing a teammate.
What happens next
- Pages and actions can be disabled when a user lacks the related permission.
- Some phone actions check permissions such as numbers, port requests, inboxes, contacts, devices, and roles.
- Changing a role can immediately affect what the teammate can manage.
Best practices
- Give billing and number-management access only to trusted admins.
- Separate everyday answering from routing administration.
- Review permissions after team changes or before launch.
Troubleshooting
- If a button is disabled, check the user role permission.
- If a teammate sees an inbox but cannot edit it, check both inbox access and role rights.
- If no roles are available during invite, create roles first.
