Call flows

Publishing Drafts

The call-flow builder separates drafts from the live published flow so you can safely edit routing before customers experience the change.

Before you begin

  • Know which inbox you are editing.
  • Test or review every branch before publishing.
  • Make sure required node settings are complete.

Where to find it

Use Save Draft and Publish Flow in the inbox call-flow builder.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the target inbox call-flow builder.
  2. Edit nodes and connections.
  3. Choose Save Draft to store work without changing the current caller experience.
  4. Resolve validation errors such as missing audio, missing message text, empty ring groups, or missing forward destinations.
  5. When ready, choose Publish Flow.
  6. Place test calls through the live number after publishing.

What happens next

  • The saved draft can be reopened for more edits.
  • The published version becomes live for inbound calls.
  • Waveline records version notes such as draft saved or published from builder.

Best practices

  • Publish during low-traffic periods for important numbers.
  • Keep a written checklist for main-line routing changes.
  • Have a fallback voicemail or forwarding branch before publishing.

Troubleshooting

  • If publishing fails, read the validation message and open the affected node.
  • If live calls still use old routing, confirm you clicked Publish Flow rather than Save Draft.
  • If the wrong number is affected, check number-to-inbox assignment.
