Troubleshooting
Microphone Permissions
Waveline needs microphone access for web and mobile calling, voicemail recording, conference-style call handling, and active-call features.
Before you begin
- Use a device with a working microphone.
- Close other apps that may be controlling the microphone.
- Know whether you are troubleshooting web, iOS, Android, or a deskphone.
Where to find it
Grant microphone permission in the browser for web calling and in the operating-system settings for the mobile app.
Step-by-step
- When Waveline asks for microphone access, choose Allow.
- On web, open browser site settings and confirm microphone is allowed for Waveline.
- On mobile, open system settings for the Waveline app and enable microphone.
- Return to Waveline and restart the call flow or app if needed.
- Place a test call.
- Switch audio devices if the wrong microphone is selected.
What happens next
- Without microphone permission, calls may connect with no outbound audio or calling controls may fail.
- Operating-system privacy settings can override Waveline settings.
- A browser refresh or app restart may be required after changing permission.
Best practices
- Grant permission before the first customer call.
- Use a headset with a known microphone for noisy environments.
- Document browser permission steps for your team launch checklist.
Troubleshooting
- If customers cannot hear you, recheck microphone permission and selected input device.
- If the browser does not ask again, reset site permission manually.
- If mobile permission is enabled but audio is missing, restart the app and check Bluetooth routing.
